Notes for: Thomas Joseph Benson
Thomas was a seaman (1882) and fish culler (1902). Thomas and Annie lived at Stephen Street on 17 Sept 1882 when their son Samuel was baptised. Thomas died of lung cancer. Marriage certificate of his son, Samuel, lists Thomas' profession as fish culler and carpenter.
EFG said he was a policeman. Unconfirmed. Also, EFG said that his father came from England. More likely, his ancestors came from England. There is another Thomas Benson died Dec 2, 1934, buried Church of England Cemetery, Forect Road, St. John's. [LETH1996] says that Thomas d.1934 was a fireman and is not the Thomas of this line.
